Dandelion Chocolate, a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in San Francisco’s Mission District, crafts this bar using cacao from Freddy Salazar's estate on Ecuador’s northern coast. Chocolate maker Eric visited the farm in 2016 and was impressed by their dedication to quality from harvest to drying. This award-winning bar, which earned a Bronze at the 2018 International Chocolate Awards, delights with flavors reminiscent of fudge brownies, cherry undertones, and a hint of toasted nuts.
Made with only two ingredients—cacao beans and cane sugar—this single-origin chocolate contains no added cocoa butter, lecithin, or vanilla. It is free of soy, dairy, eggs, and gluten, and is crafted in a facility that does not process nuts.
