This Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, boasting a high proof, bears the name of Henry McKenna, the Irish immigrant who skillfully adjusted his family's whiskey recipe to suit the grains he discovered in Kentucky. Henry McKenna stands out as one of the most matured Bottled-in-Bond whiskeys currently on the market, patiently aging in barrels for an impressive 40 Kentucky seasons. It has earned the unanimous approval of critics, recognized as an impeccably balanced Bourbon.
The color of this whiskey is a welcoming warm golden amber. As you take in its aroma, you'll notice hints of vanilla, caramel, oak, and a subtle herbaceous undertone. When sipping, the whiskey offers a smooth oak flavor with a touch of sharp spices, accompanied by notes of honey and sweetness. The finish is notably long, delivering a combination of sweetness and spiciness
To carry the Bottled-in-Bond designation, a whiskey must meet the following criteria:
- It must originate from a single distillery and be distilled within a single distillation season, which can be either January-June or July-December.
- It must undergo aging for a minimum of four years.
- It must be bottled at precisely 100 Proof.
- The label must display the name and number of the Distilled Spirits Plant (D.S.P.) where it was originally distilled. If the bottling facility differs from the distillery, the label must also include the D.S.P. number of the bottling facility.
