The founder began crafting their own lip balm upon realizing that artificial scents, flavors, and sweeteners caused discomfort and prompted frequent reapplication. While termed "flavor oils," these additives are typically unsweetened, as the sweetness is typically added by the manufacturer. To discourage lip licking and further dryness, sweeteners are omitted. While the lip balm imparts a pleasant aroma upon application, it does not leave a taste, ensuring it doesn't interfere with food or drinks.

Candelilla wax, sourced from the leaves of the Candelilla shrub native to northern Mexico and the southwestern United States, is chosen as an alternative to beeswax. This organic, vegan-friendly wax offers a harder consistency, allowing for reduced usage and making cocoa butter the primary ingredient.
